Tour itinerary
DAY 1: Škofja Loka – Ski resort Stari Vrh
We’ll start in Škofja Loka, the most preserved medieval town in Slovenia. We’ll meet and greet each other, outline the trip, and start the day. The route will take us to the beautiful hill of Križna Gora and its numerous gravel roads and single trails. We’ll then descend into the Selška valley and visit the picturesque Church of Saint Thomas. After you snap one of the most Instagrammable churches, we’ll take you to the old military road that leads to the Stari Vrh Ski Resort. That’s where we’ll call it a day.
DAY 2: Blegoš – Hotavlje
The day starts with a fresh cup of coffee and a view of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. We’ll then cycle to the Škofja Loka region’s highest hill, Blegoš (1564 m). It is said it has the best view of what Slovenia is all about. You’ll see the highest mountain (Triglav), the Kamnik-Savinja mountain range, the Karawanks, and perhaps even the Adriatic Sea. After a nice local meal, we’ll take you to the famous Rapallo border, which split the Slovenian ethnic territory after WWI. You’ll experience the living history as we visit the secret Partisan hospital Franja and the bunkers. We’ll wrap it all up in the Poljane Valley.
DAY 3: Javorč – St. Ožbolt
Day Three means the last part of the Hidden Hills Trail. First thing, we’ll ride towards Javorč, where we’ll explore the Rupnik Line, a line of fortifications and weapons installations from WWII. Then, we’ll ride over the Polhov Gradec Dolomites, which separate the Ljubljana and Poljane Valley. The incredibly scenic route will take us back to Škofja Loka, where the trip ends.
